“I told my wife how brave I was.”

Former President Donald Trump joked during an appearance at the Turning Points Action conference in Florida that he wanted to award himself with the Congressional Medal of Honor, but “they wouldn’t let me do it.”

Trump’s remarks came as he was telling a humorous anecdote about a time he flew to Iraq on Air Force One to assess the battle against ISIS.

The plane’s lights were dimmed to avoid detection, and Trump recalled that he couldn’t see the runway: “I said ‘Captain, we’re pretty low.’ I don’t see any runway. I don’t see anything … ‘Captain, what the hell is going on? You wanna pull up, Captain?'”

Trump  recalled, “I told my wife how brave I was,” and said he asked the pilot, “How did I do, Captain? Wasn’t I brave? I didn’t think you were gonna land.”

“In fact,” he continued, “as President, I wanted to give myself the Congressional Medal of Honor but they wouldn’t let me do it. I’ve always wanted that, but they wouldn’t let me do it. They said that would be inappropriate. I said okay.”

An unlisted video found on YouTube and uploaded on July 4 appears to show 45th President Donald Trump’s famous 757 jet – informally known as Trump Force One – being restored for daily use.

The four minute promotional video was produced by a local videographer, and appears to show Louisiana-based Landlocked Aviation complete a refinishing process on Trump’s jet.

The video features the plane being moved into a hangar then wrapped in plastic and washed and sanded. When the plane was stripped down, workers prepared primer, then paint, and began to completely cover the plane’s iconic paint job.

Once the jet was completely covered in white primer, it was repainted to match the original iconic design, except now it also features an American flag on the plane’s tail.
