Days ahead of the state’s primary election, Arizona State Sen. Raquel Teran, who also serves as the Chairwoman of the Arizona Democratic Party, has called for defunding the police.
In a race that is increasingly between pro-police, pro-election integrity Republicans and anti-police, pro-2020 election rules Democrats, the top left wing official in the state made the shocking announcement during an appearance on local media this weekend.
Teran was asked six times to disavow Planned Parenthood’s requirement that candidates support defunding the police in order to receive its endorsement. She refused to answer the question six times, then endorsed “reimagining how we use the resources” normally devoted to police.
“What I support is reimagining how we use the resources in our community,” said Teran, before describing her district’s “imagination” as fierce.

In April, the Arizona Daily Independent reported that Teran “cast the lone No vote against a proposed voter initiative that would protect first responders from deliberate attack.” She cast the vote during her first week in the legislature.
The bill also featured language that would offer more protections from hate crimes to Jews, and some have called Teran’s vote anti-Semitic.
Yesterday the AZ State Democrat party Chairwoman voted no on this anti-semitism bill protecting Jews from hate crimes. It appears hate is on the rise again. Yet Dems want to point fingers away from themselves. Sad era in history. Speaking of nauseating, that is how it felt. https://t.co/EaJvsMTrRr pic.twitter.com/LKNyfVZ30L

Trump-endorsed Republicans appear poised to win big in Arizona should 45th President Donald Trump’s supporters turn out in the numbers reflected in recent polling.
Blake Masters, who Trump endorsed in his bid for U.S. Senate, appears able to beat both solar panel businessman Jim Lamon and embattled Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich for the party’s endorsement. The Republican candidate will face former astronaut Mark Kelly in November.
Meanwhile, gubernatorial candidate and former newswoman Kari Lake appears poised to win the party’s nomination for governor. It appears the Republican candidate will face current Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbes, who orchestrated the rules for the 2020 election, in November.
Trump visited the state for a campaign rally on Friday after he was delayed by the passing of his first wife Ivana Trump.
Unfazed by his former boss’s loss, ex-vice president Mike Pence visited the state before Trump to endorse establishment-backed candidates who are opposed to Trump’s agenda.
