A suspected illegal alien has been charged with raping a 10-year-old Ohio girl, whose travel to Indiana for an abortion sparked international and presidential outrage after the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Gershon Fuentes, 27, was arrested Tuesday in Ohio after admitting to raping the little girl on at least two separate occasions, police said. Fuentes has been charged with rape and is being held on a $2 million bond.

According to the Indy Star, Columbus Police were informed of the girl’s pregnancy after she was referred to them by Franklin County Children Services, after her mother came forward on June 22. By the end of the month, the girl had travelled to Indiana, where she had the “medical abortion” in Indianapolis, Detective Jeffrey Huhn told the court during Fuentes’ arraignment.

“The 10-year-old told police Fuentes was responsible for her pregnancy, Huhn testified. Assistant Franklin County Prosecutor Dan Meyer said the girl had recently turned 10, meaning she was likely impregnated at 9 years old,” the report stated.

Franklin County Municipal Court Judge Cynthia Ebner said the $2 million bond was necessary for the victim’s safety and due to Fuentes being a possible flight risk, reports noted.

During the bond hearing, Meyer said that Fuentes is “not believed to be in the country legally and there are questions about his identity.”

“Imagine being that little girl,” Joe Biden said on Friday of the situation. “I’m serious. Just imagine being that little girl.”

The president’s statements were made before prosecutors revealed that the rapist of the young girl was a suspected illegal alien. It is unclear if Biden is aware of the developments.

Prior to Fuentes arrest, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost repeatedly questioned the story and noted office had not heard a “whisper” of evidence that the president’s story was valid.

“I know the cops and prosecutors in this state,” Yost said during an interview with USA Today. “There’s not one of them that wouldn’t be turning over every rock, looking for this guy and they would have charged him. They wouldn’t leave him loose on the streets … I’m not saying it could not have happened. What I’m saying to you is there is not a damn scintilla of evidence.”

However, since news of the arrest came to light, Yost issued a one-sentence statement:

“We rejoice anytime a child rapist is taken off the streets.”
