Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) posited “it’s not just a coincidence” that many mass shootings are carried out by young men who take anti-depressants and other psychotropic drugs.
“Mass shootings are a sign that America has a drug problem, a serious drug problem. But no one wants to give attention to it,” the Congresswoman said. “This mass shooting issue, it really affects mostly boys.”
“Here’s what I want to talk about. I want to talk about with psychiatric medications like SSRIs, they have side effects, they do. They have side effects like thoughts, they cause thoughts, homicidal thoughts, suicidal thoughts, that is a common known side effect of SSRIs,” Congresswoman Greene said.
Greene then cited an article that lists off 37 mass shooters and stabbers in America that just so happened to be under the influence of psychotropic drugs at the time of the killings.
“This isn’t just a coincidence. Almost every shooter, almost every mass shooter, has been on something, has been on some kind of drugs, off and on these drugs, probably a mix between recreational drugs and prescription drugs, psychiatric medications, SSRIs,” she said. “You can’t ignore this stuff. It’s lying to the American people to ignore it.”

“To this day, the media describes any suggestion of a connection between prescription drugs and mass shootings as ‘baseless and unfounded,’ well, that’s a lie. It’s completely founded, and it’s absolute truth, but no one wants to talk about it. We need to talk about it,” she said. “America deserves answers.”
Greene went on to criticize how the medical information of mass killers is sometimes hidden or kept from public view, adding that Americans should be allowed to know what psychiatric drugs were being taken by the shooters.
“Guess what. When they go out and kill people, they lose the right to privacy. Sorry! You don’t get that anymore. Remember, we live in a country where they forced everyone to wear masks and take vaccines for COVID-19, and a bunch of people didn’t have the right to say no,” Rep. Greene said.
“If you’re a mass shooter and you take these kind of medications, America deserves to know.”
Greene added “blue checkmark leftists” on Twitter accused her of suggesting that the HIPPA rights of mass shooters should be violated. In turn, the Georgia Congresswoman pointed out that the online leftists were “defending the shooter and his right to privacy.”
“Blue checkmark leftists, protecting the July 4 parade shooter. Wow, really?”
