Representative Paul Gosar has stood by Ohio Senate candidate JD Vance in his call for restrictions on pornography, attacking the “subversive” and “immoral” industry.
Earlier this week, an interview with JD Vance from August 2021 with Crisis Magazine was brought back into the spotlight by the media, with writer for the Catholic magazine Jessica Kramer claiming that the Ohio Senate candidate wanted an “outright” ban on porn.
“I think the combination of porn, abortion have basically created a really lonely, isolated generation that isn’t getting married, they’re not having families, and they’re actually not even totally sure how to interact with each other,” Vance said at the time. Gosar echoed his agreement on social media today.
Gosar, one of the most America First members of Congress, stood by Vance, tweeting on Wednesday that it was a “joke” that “liberal courts” have declared porn to be free speech.
“Porn is simply too accessible, not to mention the rampant drug abuse and sex trafficking within this subversive, immoral industry,” Gosar added.
“This, combined with the horrible effects it’s having on our young men & women, means that one who opposes any restrictions on porn is ignorant at best and malicious at worst,” Gosar continued. “This should be common sense. But leftists refuse to budge an inch for the sake of sexual immorality.”

The Republican Party overall has become increasingly critical of the porn industry, with the delegates at the 2016 Republican National Convention unanimously adopting an amendment to the platform that called porn a “public health crisis that is destroying the life of millions,” encouraging states to “fight this public menace.”
Senator Josh Hawley, who has also endorsed Vance, argued last year that men were retreating into “the enclave of idleness and pornography and video games,” after “years of being told” that they and “manhood” were a problem.
According to the most recent statistics, “problematic pornography use” affects at least 5-8% of the adult population.
This is not the first time that Gosar has spoken out about the supposed evils of the porn and sex industry. In April last year, the Arizona Representative wrote to the Attorney General, requesting an investigation into the pornographic site Only Fans for “promoting, and profiting from, online prostitution.”
He wrote that the site should be investigated under the 1910 Mann Act, which bans “interstate transportation of an individual for an immoral, or illegal purpose.” The letter notes that OnlyFans operates across state lines, so “while probably immunized from tort under Section 230, does appear to facilitate and even encourage interstate travel of the sort directly targeted by the Mann Act.”
Today I’m writing the U.S. Attorney General requesting an investigation into @OnlyFans for promoting, and profiting from, online prostitution. I encourage @TheJusticeDept to vigorously protect vulnerable people from platforms that promote coercive immoral and sexual activity.

Valiant News reported in April that the non-profit children’s sex education group AMAZE created a cartoon that instructed kids it was not only healthy and natural to watch porn, encouraging them to “gawk at an animated man with a large phallus.” The cartoon was slammed by conservatives as being tantamount to grooming.
Vance won his primary earlier this month, buoyed by an endorsement from President Donald Trump, and is now set to face Democrat Tim Ryan in the increasingly Republican state of Ohio.
