A precision rifle competition shooter attempted to save a kitten abandoned on the side of the road this week, but ended up saving an entire litter of 13 felines in an adorable twist.
Professional riflery competitor Robert Brantley posted video footage to Facebook and Instagram of the chance encounter, where he was “ambushed” by the group of kittens after attempting to rescue one.
“Left work to go to the range. Passed a baby kitten I knew wouldn’t make it through the night and the wife has been wanting a cat for the farm; figured I’d stop and rescue the thing,” Brantley wrote. “I backed up to get a short clip and got ambushed my the mob.”
“Oh my gosh, who would do this,” Brantley said. “I thought I was just saving one. Hot diggity dog.”
“I couldn’t keep up with them as I would throw one in and 2 would jump out,” he continued. “So I had to close the door with the window down and funnel em in. That would have been good footage actually. As soon as I got home got them out!”
“Thank you to all that reached out to give advice and help with supplies,| Brantley wrote in the most recent video update in response to the viral nature of the kitten saga. “Y’all are as much of a part of this as us! The kittens are doing great and are enjoying the warm breeze as they dry off. We’ve got some more things planned for these babies so stay tuned. I’m still learning a lot of this so go easy on me.”
The story comes amid widespread demonization of legal gun owners, particularly rifle enthusiasts, by left-wing politicians and the corporate media.
