Amal Torres, a Republican candidate for Maryland’s 3rd Congressional district, wants to fight for the deep-state-aligned “intelligence community” and defend them against “traitors like Edward Snowden.”

On her campaign website, Torres, who moved to America from Somalia in the 1990s, said she will empower the American intelligence community, a section of American society now well known for opposing President Donald Trump, and claiming that Hunter Biden’s laptop was “Russian disinformation.”

“I will lead the charge to ensure our intelligence community has every capability to address modern threats from known and unknown foes around the globe,” Torres said, adding that one of her priorities would be making sure the intelligence communuity attracts “vibrant” talent.

Torres declared that any “leaks” from the intelligence community should be treated as “treasonous” acts, even when they expose the truth of illegal and unconstitutional actions taken by the American government against their own citizens.

She added that she opposes pardons for any “traitors” to the intelligence community, “like Edward Snowden.”

Snowden is a former computer intelligence consultant who leaked classified information from the NSA that proved the government was actively engaged in ongoing mass surveillance of the American people. That surveillance was eventually ruled unlawful in 2020, but Snowden had long since sought refuge in Russia.

Torres served as an Intelligence Analyst for the US Air Force for years until 2016, and then worked as a defence contractors in support of “special operations” in East Africa.

In a slick video posted to social media, Torres launched her campaign by focusing on the idea that America has a “global duty to do to the right thing,” and hinted that her opposition to the “political divide” in America is motivated by concerns that China will exploit United States’ “fault lines” to become a global leader.

“In my native tongue, Amal means hope,” said Torres, also pronouncing her name in Somalian. “And as your Congresswoman, this is the simple message I plan to convey to all Americans.”

Torres’s announcement video was produced by Arsenal Media Group.

Arsenal was co-founded by Benny Johnson, who was fired from Buzzfeed for plagiarism then left The Daily Caller for Turning Point USA amid accusations that he plagiarized an article from Big League Politics.

Arsenal Media Group has produced content for various failed GOP candidates, including Lavern Spicer, who lost by over 55 points, and Kim Klacik, another Maryland candidate who lost her race for Senate by over 43 points after raising more than $8 million. Klacik spent most of the money raised on her campaign, with only $1 million left after attempting to compete in the heavily Democrat state.

According to FEC filings, Torres’s Treasurer and Custodian of Records is Thomas Datwyler.

Datwyler has been linked to “pop-up PACs” in 2020, which didn’t have to disclose who funded them until after the election cycle, and the “Our First Principles Fund,” which supported Democrat candidate Princess Blanding in the recent Virginia gubernatorial election in a move some say was meant to split the Democrat vote to help Republican Glenn Youngkin win.
