White House press secretary Jen Psaki broke down in tears this week over parents’ rights bills this week, stating that they “make her crazy.”
Psaki made the comments during an appearance on the “News Not Noise” podcast with Jessica Yellin.
“This a political wedge issue, an attempt to win a culture war,” Psaki declared. “And they’re doing that in a way that is harsh and cruel to a community of kids, especially.”

“I’m going to get emotional about this issue because it’s horrible,” the White House official sobbed. “It’s like kids who are bullied, and all these leaders are taking steps to hurt them and hurt their lives and hurt their families. And you look at some of these laws in these states, and it is going after parents who are in loving relationships, who have kids. It’s completely outrageous.”
“There are so many layers of this that are just outrageous, and I hope people continue to educate themselves on this because it is a bad side of politics,” Psaki added “And I will not cry again during this interview, I promise you.”
“This is an issue that makes me very crazy,” Psaki concluded.
Psaki recently stated that “LGBTQ+ young people” have “increased mental health issues.”
“And at a moment, uh, where we’re looking at and we’re seeing increased mental health issues related to young people, especially LGBTQ+ young people, we’re providing additional funding and resources to address this issue and we hope all leaders can focus, oh, those important issues and the impact on these young people who, uh, many are impacted across the country,” Psaki said in early April.
Psaki has also dismissed ethics concerns regarding reports of her negotiating with MSNBC for a future job while still working in a public service capacity for the White House, claiming she has undergone “rigorous ethics counseling.”
