Boise State University Endorses Drag Show, Solicits Students to Perform

An investigation has revealed that Boise State University has encouraged students to sign up for a drag show organised by an officially sanctioned student organisation.

The investigation, conducted by America First Journalism, a project from America First activist and reporter Chief Trumpster, revealed that the Boise State University Residential Housing Association (BSURHA) had announced an upcoming drag show, featuring both student volunteers and professional drag queens, to take place on April 12.

The show was described in a flyer posted on Instagram by the BSURHA as being themed around the early 2000s, “specifically pop culture which can include inspiration from ‘Mean Girls’, ‘Legally Blonde’, [and] Britney Spears.”

Drag queens are typically adult men who dress in burlesque women’s garb and dance, sometimes sexually, for the entertainment of adults. In recent years, drag shows have been foisted on younger Americans, with various public libraries promoting drag queen events to children across the country.

BSURHA, as noted by AF Journalism, is a student-led organisation that functions as an officially sanctioned go-between for students living in residential accommodation and Boise State University. The elected “Hall Council” of students also puts on regular “fun events for students,” including the drag show.

It is unclear if events put on by the BSURHA have to be vetted and pre-approved by university staff beforehand. However, as AF Journalism highlighted, university staff did promote the event, and solicited student performers via the official BSU Housing and Residence Life newsletter.

One confirmed professional drag queen performer in the upcoming show endorsed by BSU is Vice Squiwly Bones, who “has a history of sexually suggestive posts, dances, and behavior.” He promoted the Boise State drag show by describing it as being suitable for “all ages.”

This is not the first time that Bones has performed drag at BSU, having appeared at a Mexican heritage event in 2019, and as part of a “diversity” welcome event for new students at the start of the 2014-15 academic year.

In 2020, the Theatre Arts Department at Boise State put on a performance of “The Drag: A Homosexual Comedy.” This performance featured students both on and off stage, performing in drag and behind the scenes, working alongside a multitude of adult drag performers.

“The frequency of drag events at BSU indicates that drag culture is not only acceptable on campus, but also that all ages should be exposed to them at the expense of the Idaho taxpayers,” the article from America First Journalism argues.

Valiant News reported last month on Cherry West, a 15-year-old drag queen from Edinburgh, Scotland, who performs at “private functions” and LGBT pride events.
