Kyle Rittenhouse took to Twitter on Monday to thank former President Donald Trump for defending him against murder accusations in 2020, at a time when corporate media and even many Republican figures were falsely accusing Rittenhouse of not having acted in self defense.
“Before EVER hearing the facts of my case, the MSM, elected officials and celebrities ALL labeled me Guilty,” Rittenhouse stated. “At the same time, they pressured Trump to condemn my actions, he refused. He suggested my actions were in self-defense & was attacked for defending me.”
“Trump was right,” Rittenhouse noted.

The 19-year-old former lifeguard continued, “I had the honor of meeting President Trump after I was acquitted. Honestly, he was a just a regular guy! He was NOTHING like the media portrayed him to be. He was so kind and supportive Thank you President Trump for having my back when few others did (and for the cheeseburgers.)”
Rittenhouse also linked to an NPR article from 2020 that covered Trump’s remarks on the situation.

“He was trying to get away from them, I guess, it looks like,” Trump said at the time. “I guess he was in very big trouble. He probably would have been killed.”
By contrast, Democrat presidential candidate and eventual winner of the 2020 presidential race Joe Biden fed into false rumors about the case, insinuating that Rittenhouse was a white supremacist or alt-right vigilante, then doubling by stating that he was “angry and concerned” when Rittenhouse was acquitted on all charges in 2021.
“Mr. President, if I could say one thing to you, I would urge you to go back and watch the trial and understand the facts before you make a statement,” Rittenhouse said during an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson last November, adding “It’s actual malice, defaming my character for him to say something like that.”
