A recent YouGov/Yahoo News poll conducted earlier this month reveals that Joe Biden’s approval ratings remain underwater across the board, but those who most aligned against the president are between ages 18-29.
According to the survey, conducted from March 10 to March 14, the older an American is the more likely they are to support the sitting president.
Biden, 79, is most popular among respondents over 65. Among those respondents, 53% approve of his performance as president, while 47% disapprove.
The opposite is true at the opposite end of the spectrum.
In the 18-29 age bracket, which today consists mostly of Generation Z – often referred to as Zoomers – and the millennial generation, only 34% of respondents support Biden’s job performance.
57% of respondents in that age range disapprove of the sitting president, and respondents were split evenly with 28% saying they “somewhat disapprove” of Biden’s performance, and 29% saying they “strongly disapprove” of the 46th president.
Similarly, 54% of respondents between the ages 30-44 disapprove of Biden’s job performance, and 53% of those age 45-64 disapprove.
It appears the lackluster economy and staggering inflation may be convincing young people that the Democrats’ economic agenda does not support their interests as they find themselves unable to find work, buy homes, or afford rent.
Biden also receives the support of only 80% of Democrats and 10% of Republicans. 32% of independents support the sitting president.
The breakdown of support for the president based on vaccination status may also prove surprising to some readers.
Apparently, 20% of those who are “not fully vaccinated” support Biden’s job performance.
Of those who have been “fully vaccinated,” only 52% approve.
The poll was conducted amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, and many outlets reported its findings regarding American support for a U.S.-led “No Fly Zone” over Ukrainian air space.
The response was mixed.
About 40% of Americans support the establishment of a “No Fly Zone,” which critics warn would lead to nuclear war with Russia.
25% oppose the measure, and 35% say they’re not sure.
When broken down by their vote in 2020, the results show that escalation of a foreign conflict is not a partisan issue.
45% of people who voted for Biden support a “No Fly Zone” in Ukraine, while 43% of those who voted for 45th President Donald Trump support the same.
However, 33% of Trump voters oppose the measure, compared to only 23% of Biden voters.
