The Biden regime is planning to place “hundreds of migrants” apprehended entering the United States illegally on “house arrest” in a bid to find more cost-effective ways to manage the ongoing immigration crisis.
The initiative will begin as a “120-day pilot program,” according to Reuters and US News.
Reuters reported that two cities – Houston and Baltimore – will be the “pilot” cities.
Up to 200 illegal immigrants will be “enrolled” at each location, according to a notice distributed by the Biden administration.
Reportedly, Biden’s “home curfew” plan will only cost $6 to $8 per day, as compared to the $142 per day of detaining an immigrant in a jail.
Again, this is expected to provide tremendous cost savings as immigrants continue to pour into the United States illegally.
From Reuters:
The Biden administration plans to ask Congress for funding to place as many as 400,000 migrants this year in alternatives to detention, which could include the home curfew initiative as well as existing programs, the DHS official said. The total number of migrants in such programs would be higher since only heads of households are enrolled.
The people accused of entering the United States illegally will be expected to follow an 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. curfew.
