Video has emerged from Canada’s capital showing police officers removing a stack of firewood from the area still being occupied by overwhelmingly peaceful protesters demanding an end to COVID-19 restrictions.
Canadian journalist Marie Oakes shared the news on Twitter, writing that “The Ottawa police confiscating fire wood from Freedom Convoy protesters.”
Video appears to show at least 7 officers, including at least three not wearing yellow vests, removing the stack of wood and loading it into a vehicle.
Many of the police officers in the video are not wearing face masks.

Canada’s Freedom Convoy protests began after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, recently reelected to his third term, sought to impose a restrictive COVID-19 vaccine passport system that would have prevented unvaccinated truckers from crossing province lines.
The protests have since spread to other cities in Canada and across Europe, with rumors of more trucker convoy protests forming in the United States and in Australia.
