45th President Donald Trump this evening wasted no time capitalizing on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign announcement on Twitter, which some have described as being “low energy” and plagued with technological issues.
Amidst accusations that the Florida governor has been running a “shadow campaign” for president under the guise of a nationwide book tour, DeSantis on Wednesday joined CEO Elon Musk on “Twitter Spaces” to formally announce his GOP primary challenge against the former president, who is also the undisputed Republican frontrunner in the 2024 race.

However, the governor was met with a host of technological problems and glitches that ultimately ran the announcement thirty minutes late. The issues prompted Musk to host a brand new space, along with users on Twitter tweeting the trending moniker: “Ron DeSaster.”
“Wow! The DeSanctus TWITTER launch is a DISASTER! His whole campaign will be a disaster. WATCH!” the former president wrote in a Truth Social post.
“‘Rob,’ My Red Button is bigger, better, stronger, and is working (TRUTH!), yours does not! (per my conversation with Kim Jong Un of North Korea, soon to become my friend!),” the president added in a seperate post during the governor’s Twitter Space announcement.

In a separate ostensibly tongue in cheek post, President Trump complimented another 2024 GOP primary opponent, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, who he said had the best presidential announcement this week.
“Tim Scott’s Presidential launch, even with the broken microphone (don’t pay the contractor, Tim!), was by far the best Presidential launch of the week. Robs was a catastrophe!” wrote Trump. “Is the DeSantis launch FATAL? Yes!” he later added.

The former president’s son, Donald Trump Jr, joined in on the action during the flubbed DeSantis announcement and compared the governor to “low energy” failed 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush, the brother of President George W. Bush.

By the time the event ended, Musk’s Twitter Space with DeSantis amassed over 600,000 viewers. Notably, the number accounted for only about 0.004 percent of the Twitter CEO’s over 140 million followers.

DeSantis’ presidential announcement comes as he continues to sink in most GOP primary and general election polls, compared to President Trump, who appears to be in the best position to defeat Joe Biden in the 2024 race — by a landslide.
