Becky Hobbs, the twin sister of Arizona Democrat gubernatorial candidate Katie, has claimed that the Democrats were funding “extreme” Trump-backed GOP candidates across the country, because they thought they had a better chance of winning against them.
In an undercover video posted by Project Veritas, Becky, whose sister is currently going up against America First fighter Kari Lake in the race to become the next Arizona governor, detailed the plan that the Democrats had to win nationwide.
“So, all across the country, Democrat candidates, not candidates themselves, but the party was putting money in [GOP] primaries, into the races of the extreme Trump endorsed candidates, as opposed to the moderate Republicans that were running,” Becky Hobbs said.

She added that the Democrats wanted those “extreme” Trump-backed candidates to win “because they knew that the Dems had a better chance of winning their races against the extremist candidates than they did against the moderate Republicans.
Hobbs’s sister recounted that it was a “sigh of relief” when Lake won her primary, defeating the establishment-backed Karrin Taylor Robson to take the GOP nomination.
“When we were at Katie’s event on primary night, and she didn’t know the night of the election who her opponent was gonna be, but Karrin Taylor Robson was up by 10 points and it was kind of like, it took the air out of the room because everyone knew that Katie was polling better against Kari Lake, and everyone knew that Katie had a better chance to win against Kari Lake,” she said.
Despite the alleged strategy revealed by Hobbs, according to recent polling, Lake is up against her Democrat opponent by almost 3 percentage points, leading 49.2% to 46.4% with 4.4% undecideds.
Reports from Politico and NPR earlier this year claimed that the Democrats were running adverts to “boost” those extreme candidates, such as Pennsylvania’s GOP candidate for governor, Doug Mastriano, and Michigan congressional candidate John Gibbs, although there was no mention of direct funding at the time.
