Leftist Media Plays Down Pro-Abortion Violence, Blames Conservative ‘Fearmongering’

Despite arson attacks across the country, warnings from the DHS, and assassination attempt on Kavanaugh, conservatives are simply exaggerating as usual…

Leftist media outlets claimed that the threat of violence from pro-abortion radicals after the Dobbs v. Jackson Supreme Court ruling was whipped up by conservatives as part of a deliberate “fearmongering” campaign.

Following the leaked draft opinion in May that suggested the Supreme Court would overturn Roe v. Wade, which materialised on Friday, the Department of Homeland Security warned in a memo that pro-abortion radicals were plotting violence against Supreme Court Justices, churches, pregnancy centres, and pro-life rallies.

On May 8, the headquarters of Wisconsin Family Action faced an arson attack, with graffiti found at the scene reading “if abortions aren’t safe, you aren’t either,” along with symbols “typically used by anarchist violent extremists… to convey anti-law enforcement sentiment.”

A pro-life pregnancy centre in Texas was targeted one day later, and spray-painted with various messages including “forced birth is murder,” and “not a clinic.” St Patrick’s Old Cathedral in New York City received several bomb and arson threats.

Another pro-life pregnancy centre in North Carolina was vandalised in early June, with graffiti matching the Wisconsin attack, at the same time as another pro-life group was firebombed in New York. Only one day later, an armed man was arrested outside the house of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and admitted that he wanted to assassinate the Justice before the ruling.

A radical pro-abortion group, calling themselves Jane’s Revenge, named after Jane Roe in the Roe v. Wade case, claimed responsibility for the attacks in Wisconsin and North Carolina.

“This was only a warning,” the group said in their first memo. “We demand the disbanding of all anti-choice establishments, fake clinics, and violent anti-choice groups within the next 30 days,” adding that “next time the infrastructure of the enslavers will not survive.”

At the end of May, Jane’s Revenge issued calls for a “night of rage” if Roe v. Wade was overturned, claiming that the state needs to feel their “full wrath,” issuing a call to action to anyone who supported them across the country.

One day before the Dobbs verdict was handed down, a memo from the Diocese of Stockton in California claimed that a Department of Homeland Security agent had spoken to the diocese, warning of the “night of rage,” and instructing the clergy to prepare for “extreme violence.”

The Department of Homeland Security further updated their analysis after the ruling, saying that they expected that “violence could occur for weeks” from pro-abortion activists, specifically noting the threat from the Jane’s Revenge group and their planned “night of rage.”

Despite all of this information and evidence, leftist media outlets and journalists, such as Vice, and the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab, played down the threat of violence from pro-abortion radicals, and claimed that conservatives and the “far-right” were “fearmongering” about it.

Vice and the DFR Lab noted that notable conservative and nationalist personalities and politicians, such as House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Senator Marco Rubio, America First activist Nick Fuentes, reporter Andy Ngo, LiveAction founder Lila Rose, and the Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh, all warned of further violence, citing the DHS and the past incidents.

Vice cited Kristofer Goldsmith, a senior fellow for the Innovation Lab at Humans Rights First claimed that “outside of vandalism,” there was “no evidence of a far-left conspiracy to commit violence.”

Leftist “domestic extremism researcher” Jared Holt, writing for the DFR Lab, claimed that “with the same playbook used to taine public perceptions of racial justice demonstrations in 2020, right-wing influencers seek to cast popular opposition to the Court’s ruling not just as wrong, but as potentially criminal.”

Holt was also quoted in the Vice piece, suggesting that conservatives had “hyped” the riots seen around Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. The riots caused an estimated $2 billion in damages across the country, and at least 25 Americans died.

Holt further cited a tweet from the New York Times’s Stuart Thompson, who claimed that he had spoken to the Diocese of Stockton, and that the posted memo was “inaccurate.” Vice made a similar comment in their article. However, neither included the fact that Erin Haight, the diocese’s director of media and communications, stood by the memo in a comment to Newsweek.

“We think the memo speaks for itself, and I can confirm that a version of this did come from the Diocese of Stockton and other dioceses are following suit with their own versions,” Haight said. JD Flynn, who initially circulated the memo, also confirmed that while the version shown was not what originally went out, “the body of the memo is accurate.”

A number of other churches prepared for violence, with Father Patrick Summerhays, the vicar general of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, telling The Pillar that they are on “heightened alert,” instructing churches to round up any parishioners with law enforcement or military experience to act as “extra eyes.”

Following the publication of the articles, further attacks on pregnancy centres occurred, including an arson and vandalism attack on the Life Choices centre in Longmont, Colorado, which is currently being investigated by local authorities. A fire was set on the grounds of a Virginia church on Sunday, which was vandalised with pro-abortion graffiti.

A pro-abortion mob also descended on the Arizona State Capitol Building the night of the decision, with police using tear gas to stop would-be insurrectionists from breaking in and disturbing the democratic process.

“The violence we are now seeing from left-wing abortionist rioters at the Arizona State Capitol Building is nothing short of evil [and] reprehensible,” said Arizona’s Representative Paul Gosar. He added that the protesters were attempting to storm the capitol “because they can no longer kill babies,” urging “law and order” to take hold again.

Why would a PRO-ABORTION Advocate attack a clinic that’s set up to offer abortions?

As usual there is a big difference between the media account of the SC ruling for their gullible, uninformed base and the actual ruling, which obviously none of them have ever read.
